MEET THE DOCTOR: Dr Tim Hammond, Senior International Consultant

MEET THE DOCTOR: Dr Tim Hammond, Senior International Consultant

Dr. Tim is welcomed at SMOM Clinic

Our clinic attracts distinguished medical professionals, inspired by the work undertaken there and the opportunity they can have to make a very real and positive impact on the lives of the people who visit for treatment.

For the next 6 months, Dr Tim Hammond will be at the clinic as a Senior International Consultant. He was introduced to the clinic by Dr David Dawson (previous Medical Director). In addition to clinical duties, he will be a mentor to our medical staff.

Dr Tim has years of experience as General Practitioner in the UK. His impressive resume includes being the Chief Medical Officer of CEGA, the largest UK-based medical assistance and air ambulance company, dealing with about 35,000 medical cases per year. Furthermore, he has worked in various countries such as Africa, India and Russia.

He explains why he came to our clinic:

Dr Tim and his first patient at the clinic

“I am delighted to be working with the Order of Malta in Timor-Leste.

I was very attracted by the aims and principles of the Order to provide free, good quality primary healthcare to the people of Timor Leste, and was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join them.

What I have found since being here is great compassion, and great enthusiasm among the whole team to provide the best possible healthcare to the local population. The standard of care is very high, and I have been particularly impressed by kindness and consideration shown to every patient.

It is a lovely place to be working!”
