Monsignor Mario Codamo, Chargé d’affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, was conferred the Order pro Merito Melitensi – Cross pro Piis Meritis Melitensi (Ecclesiastics Class) in recognition of his dedication to and support of the Sovereign Order of Malta’s mission in Timor-Leste.
Monsignor Mario Codamo has provided help and support in social, emotional, spiritual and sacramental care, sound advice and direction to the Order’s staff and volunteer youths, who have grown by leaps and bounds under his guidance and counsel. Monsignor Codamo passionately looks to improve and expand in what God has given him. The work he has done for the Order has reached many people in different ways around the Timorese community.
About the Order pro Merito Melitensi
The Order pro Merito Melitensi is the order of merit of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, established in 1920. It is awarded to recipients who have brought honour to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, promoted Christian values and charity as defined by the Roman Catholic Church. Conferees include prominent statesmen, such as Presidents Ronald Reagan, who received it while still in office, and George H.W. Bush.
