Outreach at Ai-Pelu, Liquica District

The Clinic team, together with Mana Celice and Maun Homem, visited the community of Ai-Pelu, in Liquica, in June 2018. Hosted by a female war veteran known by the name of ‘Kasian,’ the primary school where we conducted our activity was built through her own personal resources. Kasian’s initiative is highly admirable because of her selfless act of providing better education for the youth.

We conducted screening for Hypertension, Diabetes and Malnutrition among the residents of the area and the school children. There were 55 children who were screened for malnutrition and around 15 adults screened for Diabetes and Hypertension. A health teaching on handwashing was also delivered by Sr. Petronela, whose animated discussion was greatly adored by the children. Snacks and hygiene kits were distributed at the end of the teaching session.

The work of the Order of Malta Clinic is funded by donations and impacts so many disadvantaged Timorese. Please consider a donation.
